GreenTex Windows recently installed siding and replacement windows in North Austin at the home of the Miller family in Anderson Mill, an established neighborhood in North Austin. As we covered in our previous post about this exciting project, the family was held back from their $0/month utility goal by the inefficient performance of their old aluminum windows and uninsulated Masonite siding. Despite having solar panels installed on their home, the family was still experiencing energy costs of $200-$300 per month along with uncomfortable temperatures and an unsightly appearance from the wear and tear of the windows and siding.
We are happy to report that all of these issues are now a thing of the past! In record time, we were able to complete both the installation of beautiful, energy efficient windows and durable Hardie siding that will protect and beautify their home for many years to come.
Their old, single pane aluminum windows were well past their lifespan, with cracks in the seals allowing air infiltration into the home. On top of this, aluminum is an inefficient material unless combined with some form of insulation inside the window frame. The aluminum was conducting both heat and cold, transferring the outside temperature into the house, and the single pane glass provided little to no insulation from radiant heat or infiltration. Now the home is equipped with long lasting, efficient, and beautiful Alside vinyl replacement windows. The vinyl frame is constructed for both energy efficiency and strength, to ensure that the windows protect the home from the outside elements on the day of installation and many, many years into the future. The glass is not only double pane glass, but also double strength, combined with a Low-E coating to reflect UV rays and Argon insulation to prevent heat transfer between the panes of glass. These windows are a remarkable difference in both performance and appearance versus the old windows and the family will enjoy the benefits for a lifetime.
The Masonite siding on the home was faded, peeling, cracking, and also feeding the neighborhood squirrels! There was little to no insulation provided by this siding and it was ruining the curb appeal of this beautiful Austin home. GreenTex replaced this inferior product with James Hardie fiber cement siding, the top siding product available on the market. Hardie siding will last a lifetime, and is extremely resistant to the elements. The siding will hold up in any weather conditions, and James Hardie has done the tests to prove it! On top of the superior performance, Hardie siding can be installed in just about any style, configuration, and color you could possibly want. The Miller’s were able to design the EXACT style and color they wanted their home to be, and GreenTex made it happen!
The family is so excited to spend this Christmas in their beautiful new GreenTex Home, not to mention opening presents by a fireplace that isn’t rushing ice cold air into the home!
