All GreenTex Windows Workers Are Employees.
No Subcontractors Allowed – Ever!
While Other Contractors May Think We’re
Wasting Money, We Know Far Better
When we send people into an Austin area home, we have to know they are competent and trustworthy. After all, there are almost no rooms they won’t need to enter while installing your replacement windows.
So we make it a point to know our workers’ backgrounds, which isn’t possible with subcontractors. Heck, even the crew chiefs of subcontractor crews barely know their workers – and that’s simply too much risk to put on our GreenTex clients.
Direct Employees Are All We Ever Use
We understand how invasive the replacement window process can be with strangers tromping through your living room, kitchen, and even your bedrooms. And while we may know Bob-the-subcontractor really well, we know nothing about Bob’s employees.
They could all be great people, but they could also include people with a record for sticky fingers or worse.
At GreenTex Windows, we refuse to hang our client’s safety and security on a guess.
We fully vet each worker before hiring. And if we see anything that would prevent us from sending them to visit our mother, they can’t join our crew. We’d rather take the time to train the right people than “hope” an experienced installer will learn how to behave properly.
You Can’t Expect What You Can’t Teach
With subcontractors, there’s no way to know what training they’ve received – but it’s doubtful customer service was ever brought up in their meetings.
Our installers go through service training before we allow them onto anyone’s property. They learn simple courtesies like using runners to protect your floors.
They also discover that every homeowner’s name is either Sir or Ma’am and that they aren’t in our workspace – we’re in their home.
And we teach them to pay attention to the little things. No matter how great the product, it’s only as good as the quality of its installation. So our installers take the time to get even the smallest details exactly right.
Detailed work of that caliber can only come from consistent, high-level training to a single, carved-in-stone standard. And that’s precisely what our installers get from us every day.
Quality Control Comes From Quality Materials
There are many opportunities to lower costs in the replacement window and entry door business, but not all are good ideas. When you try to support a high-quality product with low-quality materials, the results are less than ideal.
You can turn a lifetime window into a two-year nightmare over the cost of high-end caulk or a poor insulation choice.
At GreenTex, our materials are always the equal (or better) of the products we install. For example, we could use standard silicone caulk, but we know there’s a better option – tripolymer sealant. So, that’s what we use.
Because when we say lifetime, we mean it.
We also shoot foam into the frame as a matter of course. Most window contractors will do that, too – for a fee. Without the extra fee, they’ll often just stuff fiberglass insulation into the gaps, which will pull moisture straight into the window frame over time.
We can’t imagine charging extra to do our job properly, but it happens all the time in our industry. They may feel that “drafty in a decade” is just fine, but we see it as a failure.
In fact, if one of our windows develops a draft in ten years or even twenty, you can rest assured that we’ll be there to make it right.
Subs Won’t Care About Protecting Your Warranty
While we don’t work with window companies that play games with their warranty language, there are still requirements to fulfill. A major one is that your windows must be installed properly using the methods recommended by the manufacturer.
Well, subcontractors rarely know the details of those processes because they work with a different brand almost every day. So, they develop their own installation methods that work pretty well with every window they encounter.
It’s not necessarily an unreasonable tack to take, but it can void your warranty if they skip the wrong steps or mismanage a step. And you can be certain that the manufacturer’s assessor knows exactly which steps subcontractors skip and will gladly use them to get out of a warranty repair.
But with our professionally-trained installers, the only thing that might get skipped is a lunch break or two. As full employees, it’s important to them that they handle every project with care.
After all, they’ll be the ones coming back if something gets forgotten.
Guaranteeing Your Home Is Treated With Respect
With GreenTex WIndows, you’ll never need to worry about mistreatment of your home. We treat everything in your home (except your old windows) as though it were made of spun sugar.
You already know that our installers are well-trained, enthusiastic, and respectful. But do you know how far that goes?
If we think there’s a chance we might bump into a wall or a piece of furniture, we take steps to protect it from harm. Walls at tight corners get protective padding, and furniture is gently moved out of the way.
And if we can’t move the furniture, we cover it with plastic or a tarp. We’ll do whatever we need to keep your home and belongings safe from harm.
Yes, it fits our worldview of kindness first, but it’s also just smart business. We want you 110% satisfied with our work, and getting there takes planning, follow-through, and the right people. Luckily, we can lay claim to all three.
